Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping Review

You hear the name The Lonely Island and you’re already hooked into what’s to come especially when it’s a satire of an ordinary artist. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping took the liberties having the famous sketch comedy team The Lonely Island that of Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone co-written and directed this and producer Judd Apatow create a funny mockumentary that’s a good send up to some of the music documentaries like in the realms of Justin Bieber: Never Say Never but watchable and it has a good singer to follow. This is a laugh at every minute comedy that never fails to make me stop laughing. Andy Samberg has an act for comedy and it’s a good thing that he’s in a good movie to be in the lead. Conner4Real is the type of character that’s dumb and smart while also singing outrageous songs that sound great coming from big name cameos from famous artists who really think he’s the best person in the music universe. Kind of like Russell Brand’s character Aldous Snow from Get Him to the Greek. And the more it got ridiculous, the more it got funny when they’re making fun of what these types of celebrities troupes that would happen to a rap star or anything the music business. Nearly all of the jokes are so well constructed and so clever and funny especially a play off of TMZ. If anyone is worried thinking this is like a long Saturday Night Live sketch, it totally isn’t. If it was, it’s better than some of the most recent sketches now.

Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping was undeniably hysterical and just a fun comedy. This might be the funniest music mockumentary since This is Spinal Tap. If anyone’s a fan of Hot Rod or anything from The Lonely Island, it’s worth it. B
